Congenital Duodenal Obstruction



Abstract
This is a clinical analysis of 33 cases of comgenital duodenal obstruction which had been experienced from January 1982 to December 1990 at the department of pediatric surgery, Seoul National University Hospital.
@ES The results were as follows;
@EN 1) There were 17 males and 16 females, the male to female ratio was 1.66 : 1.
2) The types of obstruction were as follows; web 15 cases(45.5%), atresia 7(21.21.2%), annular pancreas 7(21.2%), malrotation 2(6.1%), preduodenal portal vein 1(3.0%) and obstruction due to intramural ectopic pancreas 1(3.0%).
3) Age on admission was to 30 days in 27 cases(81.8%), 1 month to 12 months in 3(9.1%), more than 1 year in 3(9.1%).
4) Eight cases(24.2%) weighed below 2,500 gm. at birth.
5) Main clinical symptoms were vomiting(91%), abdominal distension(27.3%) and jaundice(24.2%).
6) Associated anomalies were in 16 cases(48.5%)
7) Postoperative complication occured in 9 cases(27.3%) and mortality rate was 3.0%(1 cases).
